UK-The fridge!

Celebrating one month and exactly 10 days of my arrival to this country otherwise a vast refriiiigeratorrr…..

My teeth is not getting relief from constant clattering as the omnipotent cold has surrounded me from all sides… my poor nose that begins to run after spending 20 minutes outside the home, and then there are its cousins- my big ears and little palm that become numb in the process…again my friends, mind you, even the famous Levi’s cap and muffler cannot stand the Fridge’s deathly cold pangs.

As understood, it’s that time of the year when the temperature fidgets between 0-5 degrees, with the minimum pointing to an early morning snow or even frozen dew.

Hmmmmm…beauty at its freshest best (but only when watching it from a cosy place like the house). The local town centre is all decked up for the Christmas celebrations, with a huge Christmas tree in the centre and beautiful light arcs across the roads.

Although my favourite is the tree with neon lights near M&S, Cineworld and British Library. It’s a well trimmed with little blue bulbs glittering on it. I wish I could take some pics but as usual, my laziness comes over me. Its just a small act of taking out your hands from the cosy jacket pockets, and then removing the warm gloves and then taking out the camera and then clicking away...excuses apart, who wants to do it anyway. Aaaghhh...

In the shot moments, I had been to London, and seen the London Bridge (is falling down, falling down…mah fair lady, Yo!) and the Big Ben, the House of Parliament, perched on top of London Eye, and had the moment to travel on the uber cool trains. I really mean, they are lot better than our pathetic boogies on iron wheels.

How I wish Lalu Yadav would come with his huge khandaan to enjoy UK’s rail sewa, but here nothing is ‘free’.

I had also been to Waddesdon Manor in Aylesbury and Warwick castle in Warwickshire.

An interesting fact I came across was that India is not the only country where people steal bricks and wires from empty houses; the folk out here had actually stolen the leads from the roofs of some of the castle's buildings including the chapel. It happens not only in India. :)

I hope to next visit Scotland or Switzerland. Let’s see when it materialises.

I think I missed out the culinary section. Hah! Every spice is available out here. Right from atta, to basmati rice to elaichi to dalchini, even the yummy kari patta or the dhaniya patta is available at shops 10 mins walking distance from home. So as you see, I have been eating and putting on weight in an incredibly comfortable manner.

The people are soft spoken and nobody has time to sit outdoor and gossip about thy neighbours. The rule here is politeness and respect for your fellow humans. A mighty rule, huh!

I wonder what if it was imposed on the haughty Indians (Hey! I did not mean Raj Thackeray alright!)

Got to get up and move about now. After lying in bed all day, my bones are aching and also its time to cook something…whaddya think? Indian khaana…slurrrpppp…

Cheers
