Free Things

Free...eeeeeee... A word that makes me dizzy with all that adrenaline rushing through my otherwise pinchy conscience, and making me sit up and ask - What? Where? When? [Not keen on who and how part, I can manage that :)]

I admit - I' m a big Freebies fan!

So coming back to the point, while I was looking for some free stuff, I came across a report on BBC, which says that as the media moghul Mr Rupert Murdoch earned less profit this season, so he is planning to charge online customers for news content across all its websites. I say, Mr Murdoch, keep the change, it will help you buy some 'piece of mind'.

Life would have been a lot easier and lot more comfortable, had it not been for the greedy minds looking to make more money. Back home in those early days, there was just one TV channel, one station and very few varieties of things like cars, scooters, mixers, etc. Decision making was easy as there was no options. If you wanted to buy a car you had to decide between an Ambassador, a Premiere and a Maruti 800 to name a limited few. Bicycles were the preferred choices for travelling. They needed least maintenance, were pollution free and a good reason for keeping your body fit. My grandfather used to ride his bicycle to work every morning, joined by others en route to the company. And there was no traffic to worry about.

Out here, I have also realised that life rotates around 'SELLING'. An Indian, who is so used to his own ways, from law to bargains, better learn that nothing is cheap here and nothing is free either. Throughout the seasons, the shops display a 'sale' board on goods, but the price is hardly acceptable as I multiply them by 80(rs)! So, I have begun to reimpose the fact that - as long you are picture perfect and manipulative, you can win with minimum no. of grey cells. However, I would still need a second opinion on this before I stamp it to my 'code of conduct'. As said, your reputation precedes you. BTW, first opinion is the last opinion sounds so untrue and hypocritical!

Adios
