Highlights of the new busy-ness!

Seeing friends/colleagues reach new highlights in their career always made me feel proud that I had once been in close proximity to these “stars”. In fact, It has always been a subject of discussion within (un)common circle of friends and incessant torture within the mind. Knowing that they were successful and you were hardly able to crack and interview, leave alone landing a role!

This cruel irony of pride and jealousy was shown in 3 idiots, but I had experienced it much before the movie was even released. It was during once such appraisal, where my friends were promoted to senior roles owing to their previous experiences in the industry, I, however, consoled my bruised egoistic-self with the highest pay rise among the team, being a fresher. My boss did believe in me, as a useful resource. May be!

Anyways, cutting to the ‘present continuous’, this is my fourth day as a contractor for one of biggest companies in the United Kingdom. And till today, I’ve time to write my daily itinerary.

Beginning my day at 6.15 am, I snooze my alarm at least three to four times before getting out of bed. And the winter mornings in the UK are very groggy. With eyes half-open, a clogged nose and chesty cough, waking up can be a very tough task indeed, so what it its part of my routine! My next goal of catching the '40 mins train also gets snoozed just like my alarm. Ideally the 0800 train gets me to the station just in time to catch the bus that drops off at dot 9.
Office : As my first experience of working/sitting among the Brits than previously faced, I find that although there has been very limited interaction, nonetheless, they have always been courteous and pleasant. Talk about Indian mannerisms... we are total softie, getting down to the bits of personal information. Yes! Its also true that the Brits (at least all in my office) are very well mannered and professional people. A total contrast to the highly social, highly friendly, boisterous Indian culture.

The husband has been very supportive lately. And yes, that PlayStation 3, now a third person in the house (@#$%*******) is creation of the devil! I guess all the wives are sharing this common plight!
Returning home by 6.30 - 7 - 7.30 pm in the evening, I'm too tired to even make a meal. Just anything that can stop the amplified growls coming from my stomach. Whatever is cooked and is decent enough to be eaten with a little perseverance becomes dinner and thus ends the day.
And then the alarm rings.... SNOOZE!

Taaaaaaaaaaaaaa..............aaaaaaaaaaggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!
